Privacy Policy

BottleWise is built by JDC Applications. This policy explains what information the app uses, why, and the choices you have. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to make the app work.

Information we use

BottleWise is designed to work with as little personal information as possible.

• Photos you scan. When you point the camera at a wine list, bottle, or shelf, the image is processed to read the text and identify the wines. Scanned images are not stored or retained by us. They are used to produce your recommendations and then discarded.
• Your taste profile. The answers you give in the flavor quiz, and the wines you save, are used to personalize your recommendations.
• Purchase information. If you subscribe, your purchase is handled by Apple through the App Store. We receive confirmation that a subscription is active, but we never see your payment details.
• Basic diagnostics. We may collect anonymous crash and performance information to fix bugs and improve reliability.

BottleWise does not request or use your location.

How your photos are processed

To read a wine list, bottle label, or shelf, BottleWise sends the image to a trusted third-party artificial intelligence service that performs the text recognition and wine matching. The image is used only to return your results. It is not retained by us, and it is not used to build a profile of you or to identify you. We encourage you to avoid capturing people or other personal details in your scans.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not share your information with advertisers.
• We do not build advertising profiles about you.

Where your data lives

Your taste profile and saved wines are stored to power your recommendations. We keep information only as long as it is needed to provide the app, and you can clear your saved data or delete your profile from within the app at any time.

Your choices

• You control camera access through your device's Settings.
• You can clear your saved wines and reset your taste profile in the app.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple account settings.

Children

BottleWise is about wine and is intended for adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age required to purchase alcohol in their region.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we will revise the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be communicated within the app.
